in my life. I have programmed the oldies station into my radio in the #2 position and I listen to it daily. Soon I guess my ovaries will dry up, I will start menopause and the hot flashes are sure to follow.
In the city where I live, they have several 'HOT', 'JAMMIN' and 'ALL THE HITS' stations which take turns in playing the same frigging music. I honestly believe that they share 3 or 4 CD's. So my only outlet for 'variety' is to listen to the Jammin' Oldies station for tunes of 70's, 80's, 90's and today (not sure how a song from 2004 is an oldie but I digress).
Other subjects..
I hate my cat, he pisses me off at least once a day. I threatened to kick him out yesterday but that was lost on him. He decides that he wants to jump up on my kitchen counter. I ask him, "Have you lost your effing mind?". He doesn't answer but clearly understands my tone and runs and hides in his 'room'. I had to break out the bleach and sponges and clean my countertops - I can't stand the thought of having cat hair in my kitchen. Maybe I should shave all of his hair off?
Wedding planning isn't going too good. I haven't decided on a location. More importantly, how to pay for it? Dunno.
TTFN..be back later.

| 01.14.05 (11:23 am) [edit] |
|
I posted a long and eloquent entry last night detailing all of my thoughts and aspirations last night BUT of couse T-Blog effed it all up. I don't feel like reashing it so...
Job - We were sold but I get to keep my job at the same salary. No biggie.
Wedding - Last night, I didn't have a date or a location but now I do - 6/10/2006. Now I'll need to decide where it will take place.
Poker - I have started playing online poker and I won my 1st tournament last night -->22.50. Yippeee. I played again today and won 9 dollars so now I am about 5 bucks down. It is alot of fun and I can play with play money or in low stakes games (.02/.04) until I actually get my skills up.
I should have my wedding in a casino, that would be fun. Holla back!

| Rumors |
| 01.04.05 (6:27 pm) [edit] |
|
So, there are all of these rumors swirling around the office about layoffs and reorganization, etc. One of our directors sent out an All Hands meeting request with the Subject line of Organizational update or something like vague like that. Our managers have been virtually unreachable for the past two weeks and morale is at an all time low. This whole thing stinks because I work virtually - meaning I work from home and I have no clue what is going on. Sucks! We have this meeting at 8am tomorrow and I have spent the majority of my night on the phone with several of my co-workers trying to figure out what the hell is going on! I even called my manager to see if she would spill the beans but no luck. She did assure me that I would not be losing my job, which makes me feel better but I still don't exactly know what is going on in the organization.
I really hate the feeling that I could lose my job any minute because I have bills and a friggin' wedding to pay for, I need every little penny I can get. Rumors stink and I thought that I would be able to escape all of that crap when I left the physical office environment but I guess not. I know my entire day is going to be spent going over what was said in the meetings and I will not be able to get any work done at all....
Today = Speculation
Tomorrow = ?

| Engaged |
| 12.29.04 (5:31 pm) [edit] |
|
I'm engaged! It was unexpected but I couldn't be happier. In any case, I guess this blog will be my place to jot things down (at least temporarily)
My ring is too big, it needs to be resized, I haven't picked a date and I don't know where I am going to get married. 85% of me wants to go somewhere tropical to get married, 10% in his hometown, 2% JOP and the remainder in my hometown but I can't seem to figure it out.
I have scoured dozens of websites and have made come up with a few ideas:
- Colors: Silver/Black/White
- Centerpieces: Individual wedding cakes
- Flowers: dunno, white tulips maybe
More later...
gotta keep track of the websites I am visiting

| Frustration |
| 12.20.04 (2:08 pm) [edit] |
|
Can I just say that relationships are hard? I love this man to death, would do anything for him BUT he is working my nerves. I have known that he needs to be nudged (read nagged) before he will do anything unless it is golf, poker or football. Now I don't claim to be the most driven person in the world but if something needs to get done, I will do it.
In Nov., he noticed that his Car insurance premium wasn't debited from his account. Does he call then to check it out? No. he calls today, only after I forced the phone into his hand and went out to his car and got the insurance info. Now why do I have to do that?It makes me feel like a nag and bossy, who wants to feel like that?
He also likes to think that I am hella paranoid, because I shred my cc receipts, don't leave $$ on the seat of my car AND do other things to guard my personal information. He is so very naive and I would hate for anything bad to happen to him because of his carelessness but it is starting to piss me the fuck off. I don't think I am paranoid but I will not give someone the opportunity to take advantage of me. What does it take to shred a CC receipt instead of chucking it in the garbage? My money guess where it belongs? In my hand and in my freaking house....whatever
I'm done.

| Craziness |
| 12.04.04 (9:28 pm) [edit] |
|
I have been hella slack on updating my blog. Nothing new with me, I am still bored as hell and have worked up an unusual obsession with my hair and products. I have spent more time 'doing' my hair in the past few weeks than I have in the past 10 years. Crazy.
Another crazy thing is either my walls are super thin OR I live in the most sexually active apartment building in TX. I can hear it all...funny. I think my upstairs neighbor is a hooker or I guess she could be a college student. Lots of, 'Oh yes, oh yes, right there, right there' going on up there. Give me a break, he is not that damn good...Crazy.
I went to DSW today and I SWEAR this random woman was walking around restocking the shoe boxes. She didn't work there so why was she restocking the boxes. I then wondered what she would do if I were to move some of the boxes that she fixed? I'm not that brave but I sure thought about it.
Lastly, I have come to the conclusion that New Year's resolutions tend to fall by the wayside because of poor planning. With that said, my first resolution for 2005 is to not shop at Wal-Mart. I saw this documentary on MSNBC ( I think) about Wal-Mart and am now convinced that it is evil. LOL. Seriously though, there was some statistic like 80% of Americans made at least 1 purchase at a WM last year- that's like 200M people.
Why the hell is my cat sitting on my chest while I type this? Do you know how difficult it is to type and have a snoring cat sleeping on you?I've spent $$ buying his ass a super sweet cat bed - furry with cheetah print- and he likes to sleep in my bed or under my bed.
Well TTFN...

| Work |
| 11.11.04 (9:14 am) [edit] |
|
Since I moved to TX last month, I have been working from home. It is a very nice arrangement that, so far, is working very well for me. I don't have to deal with the office politics or bad traffic. Hell, I don't even have to shower (but I do, everyday) if I don't want to.
The downside, of course, is that in a new city, I am missing the opportunity that an outside job affords someone to meet new people. I spend the majority of my time in my apartment. Some days, I don't even go outside and quite frankly I am bored as hell. I need to find an outlet to meet some new people.
Aaarrrghhh!

| Been awhile |
| 11.01.04 (2:41 pm) [edit] |
|
I guess I fell off of the face of the earth for a minute but I'm back...
Everything is cool with me so far, I adopted a cat the other day 'Sylvester' is his name and he is only 4 months old so I guess I should call him a kitten. I go pick him up tomorrow--apparently people do weird things to cats (especially black cats) on and around Halloween so I couldn't take him home with me on Saturday. I am excited but I'll be damned if he is going to sleep in my bed with me so I have to do some research on how to prevent the whole jumping on the bed thing. I might just close my door (which I do anyway) and that should keep him out. We will see...
Random stuff- My mother kinda made me mad today, she seems to think it is wrong to harbor resentment, I wouldn't even call it resentment, towards my father because he didn't show up for my college graduation six years ago. Now, don't get me wrong I was pissed but I am by no means holding a grudge towards the man, I'm not. She asked me if I talked to him and did I hear that he wants to come visit me for Christmas, I told her yes but that I wasn't counting on it. From that she gathered that I must still be angry about my graduation! Er, no, I lived in GA for about 8 years and he never came to visit. Why all of a sudden would I lay out the red carpet because he mentions IN PASSING that he want's to come to TX? Seriously, if I had a dollar for each time the man said he was coming to visit...
Michael Moore is on CNN right now, he is a weirdo. Apparently, he has a Video Army that will (at a moment's call in FL & OH) be dispatched to videotape voter fraud. Seriously, someone can call an 800 number and they will roll up, Cheaters style and tape the fraud. Comedy. Gotta Love it..moving on to Osama, did anyone else see his latest tape? When I first saw it, it sounded like a ringing endorsement for John Kerry. Not good for Kerry, I'm guessing that is one endorsement he didn't want.
I can't wait for tomorrow....

I want to lose weight, probably about 20 lbs. Here's the catch, I don't like to workout AND I love fast food. This is a problem. I did do South Beach a few months back and I lost about 15 lbs, it was cool but I don't think I want to do that. I did walk 1.5 miles on Saturday, I even managed to run a little bit of that--a little. I get really bad shin splits and so I stop running because it hurts so bad. I think I am going to go for a walk or something tonight. Wish me luck....Ciao!

| One Week Down... |
| 10.17.04 (4:26 pm) [edit] |
|
So I have made the move to TX and here is a little bit of what I have learned so far...
- Everyone in TX drives a truck--either a pickup or an SUV.
- They drive badly in those trucks.
- This state LOVES some George W. Bush.
- Huevos Rancheros is/are good!
- Liquor stores close at 9, even on the Weekend. You can buy beer/wine on Sunday.

| More Fantasy |
| 10.05.04 (9:21 am) [edit] |
|
I won this week's Fantasy Football game by a margin of 30 or so points. The kudo's this week have to go to my entire offense as each one of the guys scored in double digits. I also won the high points total this week -- $25.00! More Chunky soup for me, thanks Donovan.
Since I am relocating, I will have to turn the reins over to my co-GM for the next two weeks. I am confident in his abilities as he was the one who thought to pick up Dominack Davis' backup, Jonathan Wells. It will be nice to watch a football game w/o worrying about my team. Although that is not likely to happen! LOL

I am 5 days away from the big move! The downsizing of my life is almost complete, it's amazing how much you can throw away when you have to. There were mass amounts of things that I have held near and dear to my heart that I have simply 86'ed because of the move. Crazy.
BTW, I lost my Fantasy Football game last week. Actually, I got the beatdown--50 points or so...

Football is going good so far. I am 1-0-1, I wish I was 2-0 but the season is young. I love Donovan McNabb is single-handedly laying the smackdown on Detroit and helping me push ahead of my opponent this week. If I can pull out this victory, I will be ecstatic! I just might have to go out and buy some Chunky soup, in honor of Donovan's wonderful performance today. Will post more later....
Donovan is the man but the rest of my team sucks! I lost, and badly.

Well, today I started Operation De-Clutter and who knew that I had so much shit?? Seriously, I found stuff from 1995 and 1996 that had no business being moved from place to place. I think I have lived in two different states (and the District of Columbia) since 95. It was cool to reminsce but also very cool to shred and trash the crap. I still have a few more boxes to weed through before I can begin to pack for the move.

I wonder if you know that I am reading? Your entries make me worry and afraid for you. I don't know how to help or what to say, you have heard it all. Hell, you said it all to yourself (you know what they say about people who talk to themselves?). I really wish that we were closer, that the wall that is between us, wasn't. One of these days, I will reach out to you and I hope you are open to it.

What next?
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- Midwest Airlines canceled a flight ready to take off for San Francisco after a passenger found Arabic-style handwriting in the company's in-flight magazine and alerted the crew.
The plane, carrying 118 passengers and five crew members, had already pulled away from the gate at Mitchell International Airport Sunday evening. It returned to the gate, the passengers got off, security authorities were notified, all luggage was checked and the aircraft was inspected. Nothing was found.
The passengers were put up in nearby hotels and booked on a Monday morning flight.
The writing was in Farsi, the language used in Iran, said airline spokeswoman Carol Skornicka. She said she didn't know exactly what the writing said but was similar to a prayer, "something of a contemplative nature."

| Bored as Hell |
| 09.21.04 (3:03 am) [edit] |
|
My life has been so painfully boring the past few weeks that I have nothing to write about. I am still moving in about a month and I haven't started packing ANYTHING!!Shit. I am getting nervous about the change and the unknown, I want to fast forward my life and see how it turns out but I guess I will have to wait and see...
Wanna hear something funny? My co-workers' ex-husband is an Elvis impersonator. This is hilarious and I am wondering how in the hell this hasn't come up in casual conversation over the past 2 years???I mean is this his FULL TIME job to dress up like Elvis? Was he doing this before the divorce? Did she dress up like Priscilla or Ann-Margaret? I wanna know, I wanna know. Comedy.
The other day, I got inspired to cook and bake. Fried some chicken and baked a souffle, yummy. The chicken was hella crunchy, I was surprised how damn crunchy it was.
Craziness going on in Iraq, when will it all stop? I hate George Bush for putting us in the situation where innocent civilians are being plucked off the street and beheaded. Their heads are being cut the fuck off, not shot but cut the fuck off. I don't understand how he can sleep at night knowing that people are dying in Iraq on a DAILY basis because of his failed attempt at machismo. I despise him and I can only pray that he will not be reelected. He is a moron and Dick Cheney is the devil.

| The Perfect margarita |
| 09.07.04 (5:56 am) [edit] |
|
The 1st thing everyone should know about the perfect margarita -- It does not come Frozen. I despise frozen margaritas, prefer mine on the rocks. In any case, I went to a part-ay on Friday (smooches to the host, Tom!) and had 3 (or was it 4) of the best margaritas! So I thought I would share...
1 lime halved
Juice of 4 limes
1/4 cup Cointreau (or Grand Marnier)
1/4 cup Triple Sec
2 cups Tequila (Patron is best)
Sea Salt
So you take the lime juice, Cointreau, Triple Sec and Tequila and pour it all into a shaker filled with ice. Shake Shake Shake for about 20 secs. Pour through a strainer into a salt-rimmed glass.
Cut a few wedges out of your halved lime, use one for the rim, one for garnish and one to squeeze on top of the drink.
Makes 4 servings...be careful, they will put you on your ass!

| Crazy Randomness |
| 09.01.04 (4:57 pm) [edit] |
|
Despite all of my issues with my co-workers, I am really going to miss this place when I move. Today, one of them decided to make Guacamole! She brought in the Avocados, Tomatoes, Garlic and Cilantro and started chopping away in our little kitchen. Hilarious. Who makes Guac at work???They really crack me up here, they really do. We have such a casual and relaxed environment that that sort of thing is not out of the norm. A few months back, someone brought in cookies and baked them in the toaster oven.
On another note, maybe we are a wee bit too casual. One of the co-workers brought in a pic of herself in a Wonder Woman costume--that she got from Fredericks of Hollywood back in the day. We still can't figure out WHY that pic made an appearance, specifically because there was an obvious, erm, um cameltoe making its self known in the pic. Ewww, noone wants to see that!!!Now we can't look the woman straight in the eye. We also can't figure out whether or not she noticed the cameltoe. I mean it is a pic of her that she has had for almost 20 years. You would think she would notice, right? And if she did--why show us????

| 09.01.04 (5:38 am) [edit] |

So just a couple of things:
--I was just watching an interview with Lynne Cheney, wife of the VP and she was asked a question about her husband and she didn't answer the freaking question! She did what all politicians do - shift the focus from the issue to pumping up her candidate. Very annoying!
--What I have always found funny is how throughout the campaign the candidates are ripping each other apart--stopping short of calling each other assholes and bastards--but when its over and they do their concession speech, they blow smoke up the ass of their opponent. I wanna hear a concession speech that says something like, "Well folks, you blew it and now we have this idiot doing the job. You should have voted for me but you didn't and I moving to Bermuda. See you in 4 years!" Instead, we get some crap about how so and so is a strong candidate and is the best person for the job, blah blah blah...crap!
--Michael Moore is on the Today Show right now and he is such a peculiar person. I find him to be somewhat annoying and he always looks like a slob.

| Groovy |
| 08.29.04 (9:30 am) [edit] |
Today was a good day. I found out that I will be able to keep my job when I move in October. All I have to do now, is decide when I am moving and where I am going to live when I get there. I'm really excited because I was a bit apprehensive about having to find a new gig which would probably pay me substantially less than I make now so now I don't have to!
Also, my moms bought a new car so she doesn't have to worry about being stranded this winter like she was last winter. Groovy.
One more thing, I get to move from the cube I am currently sitting in. I do this with mixed emotions, I am working on a serious project for the next few months and I will not be able to complete it in my current cube because there are [b]hella[/b] amounts of socializing in & around my cube. So, I must say adios, ciao bella, auf weidersehen to my cube mates, Holla Back... 8)

| Busy Busy Busy |
| 08.28.04 (8:09 am) [edit] |
Things have been so hectic! I have been in and out of town alot in the month of August. Couple that with the impending move in October and well, I'm not as focused as I need to be.
Yes, I have decided to move to be in the same place as my man. Many have tried to warn me about the consequences of doing anything "FOR" a man but he is so much more to me than just my boyfriend. He is my very best friend and I am a better person when I am with him. Honestly, he is one of the nicest people I have ever met and he makes me want to be a better person--which, if you knew me, is no small feat :). Also, we have been together for a little over 3.5 years so I kinda need to see this thing through. We need to be in the same space, same place for our relationship to take its final shape -- as friends or more. One last thing on this, I know if I don't go then I will always wonder what if and that is no good.
Anywho - some observations....
